Yes, the right side is positive. It is possible to undue the positive lead to the battery, while the battery is in place. The tool kit box has to be removed for access. I removed this lead connector and then replaced back again, with an EXTRA lead (heavy wire with loupe end). Now I have, added a permanent wire connection for charging purposes. Remember to place a plastic wire nut on the loose end of this pigtail while running the motorcycle.
• Note the negative lead does not have to be accessed, because one can attach the negative lead of the charger to any good ground, such as the starter motor or brake peddle.
